Sony Ericsson Satio Review

Sony Ericsson Satio is a smartphone announced by Sony Ericsson at the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, on 15th February 2009. It was officially released to the public in the UK on 7th October 2009 in three different colour schemes, Black, Silver, and Red.

Sony Ericsson have placed much emphasis on the high quality multimedia functionality of the Satio, mainly concerning music, and video – however, also, photography. The camera can be found on the back of the handset, behind a slider. It features a xenon flash.

On the side of the phone, users can find the shutter button, and another button that can switch between still and video modes. There is also another switch for zooming in and out. There is a MicroSD card, and a sliding lock button on the other side of the handset. The front of the phone – as with many contemporary smartphones – is dominated by a large display.

In the Satio’s case, the display is 3.5 inch, 16:9 ratio 360 x 640 TFT resistive touchscreen, and there’s also a front facing camera for video calling. In terms of software, the Satio uses the Symbian OS operating system, which has been created by the Symbian Foundation. The handset also uses the PlayNow service, Sony Ericsson’s mobile content platform, and it is part of the company’s new Entertainment Unlimited service.

The connectivity of the smartphone is another key feature of the Satio, it is Wi-Fi-enabled and has a GPS chip for navigation and location-based services. It also supports full Flash for video playback. In terms of design, the Satio is solid and sturdy, despite not being particularly heavy. The actual build quality is extremely similar to Sony Ericsson’s more robust phones.

The whole device is much smaller than the manufacturer’s photos seem to suggest, and it’s not much bigger than Sony Ericsson’s other smartphone/large display efforts. Additional features of the Satio include a Walkman (for the music types), Cybershot (for the photography types), and Java gaming (for the gamers).

The new Samsung Galaxy S is another fantastic new handset from Samsung. Why not check out the review online at Phones4u today and order yours now!
