We open up Motorola's Ferrari edition of the "banana slide" Z8 phone. Is it more than a paint job and a few pre-loaded videos?

The Motorola Z8 Ferrari Edition is basically what you'd expect, a Ferrari logo and some promotional content stuffed into a Moto Z8 slider phone. That's not all bad, as the Z8 slider is quite a capable phone. We liked the red paint job and the familiar Ferrari logo, even better than the original color scheme or the newer black finish we've seen around. The Z8 is still a Symbian UIQ phone, and it packs serious multimedia heat with 3.6Mbps HSDPA and enough power to play movies at 30fps on the phone's 2.2-inch, 16-million color screen, which looks great in person, by the way. Because the Europeans are more into Italian auto branding than we Americans, we still don't expect this edition to make it stateside, which is too bad, because it's not like Motorola doesn't need an exciting new phone to sell in the U.S. Release: March 2008. Price: $1200.
Pros: Bright red with a yellow logo, just like my Ferrari.
Cons: Surely, if you can buy it at a Ferrari store, it must cost extra.
